LIGHTING THE WAY, TOGETHER
LIGHTING THE WAY, TOGETHER
The OSLUV Project knows that 222nm GUV can change, well, everything.
The right to clean air should bring people together, not drive us apart.
While Germicidal UV has been known to be effective since the early 1900s, 222 nm GUV is only now being studied as a tool to beat airborne pathogens. 222 nm GUV shows tremendous promise as a human-safe, easily deployed solution.
We are proud and excited to be working with the leading minds in this field as we determine the efficacy and safety limits of this incredible tool in our fight against respiratory disease.
Here’s what we know:
-
-
To achieve the same level of pathogen reduction in a conference room,* you could either deploy universal PCR testing of all occupants (a financial and logistical headache), install 32 consumer-grade portable air cleaners each providing 300 CFM CADR (likely impossible due to noise, outlet, and floorspace concerns), or temporarily install one diffuse 222 nm GUV light.**
* assuming a 12’ ceiling, 152 sq ft, 8 person conference room with 3 ACH
** calculated using data from Eadie et al. (2023) and Peñaloza et al. (2023)
-
After reviewing the most recent health and safety data, the agency that sets limits for exposure to this and similar light, the ACGIH, has allowed for a sevenfold increase to the recommended exposure limit to 222 nm GUV light.
-
Implemented at effective but practical intensities, 222 nm GUV works to eradicate virus, hinder bacteria, and damage spores suspended in the air and does not require individual compliance and adoption like mask and respirator use.
